Thiruvananthapuram, June 2, 2026: The Kerala government’s proposal to provide land and houses to seven Scheduled Caste (SC) families facing eviction at Pariyathukavu, a Dalit settlement near Malayidamthuruth in Kizhakkambalam, has triggered sharp criticism from the affected families and their supporters. The announcement by Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan was made in the state Assembly in response to a calling attention motion by Kunnathunadu MLA V.P. Sajeendran. However, the decision has been widely condemned for allegedly bypassing the consent of the families and sidestepping a long-standing demand to measure and verify the land’s status.
