In a shocking incident in Nagpur, three engineering students have been accused of brutally murdering a local businessman. According to the police, the crime took place on the night of October 12, 2023, when the accused students allegedly killed the businessman with the sole intention of stealing his luxury car.
The police revealed that Ashok Sharma (42), the victim, was murdered in a deserted alley near his home. After stealing his car, the accused allegedly assaulted him, rendering him unconscious before killing him brutally. The case was registered after Sharma’s wife immediately informed the police. The three accused—Rahul Mehta (22), Anil Kumar (23), and Vikas Pandey (21)—all students at an engineering college in Nagpur, were swiftly arrested.
The police stated that the accused used the victim’s car to flee the scene and later abandoned it at an isolated location. The vehicle has since been recovered, and the accused have been charged under sections related to murder, car theft, and other relevant offenses. Further interrogation is underway, and the accused are expected to be sent to judicial custody soon. Notably, the accused had no prior criminal records and were reportedly regular students.
