Rajasthan is reeling under intense heat, with heatwave alerts issued for 22 districts, including Jaipur, Kota, and Hanumangarh. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), temperatures in these areas are expected to range between 40°C and 44°C. The heatwave alert is in effect from June 4 to June 7, the weather department stated.
Alongside the heatwave alert, Rajasthan is also experiencing NawthaPa-like conditions, where the intensity of the heat is significantly higher. NawthaPa refers to a nine-day period of extreme heat, during which temperatures soar to extreme levels. The IMD has warned that temperatures during this year’s NawthaPa could exceed 45°C.
The districts under heatwave alert include Jaipur, Kota, Hanumangarh, Ajmer, Bikaner, Jodhpur, Baran, Dholpur, Sikar, Nagaur, Pali, Jalore, Sirohi, Banswara, Jhunjhunu, Churu, Ganganagar, Jaisalmer, Barmer, and Jodhpur (again listed for emphasis). The weather department has advised residents in these districts to exercise caution.
