Just days after the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) faced criticism over its digital evaluation system, the National Testing Agency’s (NTA) re-examination portal has come under fresh scrutiny. Independent cybersecurity researchers have alleged serious security weaknesses in the NTA portal, warning that unauthorized access could expose sensitive administrative and user data. The claims, shared on social media platform X by Dubai-based researcher Rylen Anil, have reignited concerns about the digital security of India’s high-stakes examination platforms.
According to Anil’s posts, the NTA re-examination portal contained a “superadmin login bypass” vulnerability, attributed to weak credentials. The researcher claimed that this flaw could allow access not only to sensitive user data but also to administrative functions such as exporting data, generating appointment letters, and managing observers and examination centres. Specifically, the alleged vulnerability reportedly exposed details of thousands of observers, centre coordinators, and examination centres—including names, email addresses, and phone numbers.
