In a major breakthrough in the gangrape and brutal murder of a minor in Basari village under Padri police station in Mirzapur district, the police have arrested the fugitive accused, Ajay Bind, after an encounter in which he sustained a bullet injury to his leg. He is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital. Earlier, the minor’s lover, Sajan alias Rajan, had also been arrested.
Ajay Bind has confessed to the crime, revealing that both accused persons had jointly murdered the victim, Kavita, and dumped her body in a dry drain.
Speaking to the media, police officials said that on the night of 23 May, the minor Kavita was asleep at home when her lover, Sajan alias Rajan, took her outside. At Sajan’s behest, Ajay Bind also joined them. The two then forced Kavita into a sexual act, but she resisted. Ajay Bind told the police that when Kavita protested, Sajan struck her chest with a stone and then suffocated her by pressing a cloth over her mouth and throat. After killing her, both accused persons dumped her body in a dry drain and fled the scene.
