A harrowing incident has come to light in Amritsar, Punjab, where a student consumed poison due to pressure over fees, leading to her death. The deceased has been identified as 17-year-old Amjot Kaur, a resident of the 88 Feet Road area in Amritsar. She was staying with her aunt, Sarbjit Kaur, while pursuing her studies. Amjot had an outstanding school fee of nearly ₹20,000, for which the school management was repeatedly pressuring her.
Sarbjit Kaur, Amjot’s aunt, has accused the management of D.D.I.S. School, Fatehgarh Churian Road—Principal Shabnam Sharma and Class Teacher Akansha Sharma—of constantly pressurizing Amjot over the pending fees. She claims that the mental stress from these repeated demands drove Amjot to consume poison. Before her death, Amjot recorded a video in the hospital, in which she levelled serious allegations against the school management. She stated that she was called to school on May 11, where she was subjected to severe mental harassment. She was also removed from her class group.
