West Bengal is witnessing a sudden shift in weather patterns. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a thunderstorm warning for Kolkata and several other parts of the state. According to meteorologists, this situation has arisen due to increased moisture over the coastal regions of South Bengal. The IMD has predicted heavy rain accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorms in Kolkata, Howrah, North and South 24 Parganas districts from Sunday evening until Monday afternoon.
As per the IMD, light to moderate rainfall is expected in Kolkata from Sunday night, which may continue until Monday morning. Alongside, wind speeds could reach 50-60 km per hour. Authorities have advised people to stay indoors and take necessary precautions. The State Disaster Management Department has also alerted residents in low-lying areas to stay vigilant and prepare for any unforeseen circumstances.
