A lovers’ spat in Pune’s Hinjawadi area escalated into a brutal crime. According to local police, around 11 p.m. on Tuesday night, the accused, Rahul alias Rajkumar (28), slit the throat of his girlfriend, Priya (25), with a blade. Priya died on the spot. The accused tried to flee immediately, but the police arrested him the very next day.
Police say the accused and the deceased had been in a relationship for the past two years. However, tensions had recently flared up between them for some reason. The dispute reportedly began with an online argument that steadily worsened. On Tuesday night, after a heated phone call between them, the accused left his home and went to the deceased’s residence, where he committed the horrific act.
The police team arrested the accused from his home. During questioning, the accused told officers he believed Priya was cheating on him. However, police officials state that no evidence has been found to support this claim so far. The accused has been charged under Section 302 (murder) and Section 201 (destruction of evidence).
