Ghaziabad’s Sahibabad has seen a sharp rise in electric vehicles (EVs) in recent months. In response, both government and private players have set up numerous charging stations. However, fresh data reveals that while the area now hosts more than 200 such stations, only 35 have obtained the mandatory licence or No Objection Certificate (NOC).
Local sources say the delay and complexity of the NOC process have left many stations operating without legal sanction. Several are running on temporary permits, constantly under the threat of legal action. Traders and users have voiced their frustration and demanded swift government intervention to resolve the issue.
Speaking on the matter, Sahibabad Municipal Corporation officials have assured that efforts are underway to speed up the NOC process. Yet, coordination across multiple government departments and regulatory layers is slowing progress, leaving EV owners without reliable charging facilities.
