Tirupati, 24 May 2026 - The Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama in Tirupati wrapped up its 20-day Samskara Shibiram summer camp on Sunday, leaving a lasting impact on the young minds that participated in the event. The camp, which was a grand success, was designed to instill moral values, discipline, and patriotism in the children, aiming to shape them into noble citizens of the country.
The summer camp, which commenced on 4 May 2026, saw over a hundred children engage in various activities, including prayers, shlokas, Bhagavad-Gita chanting, moral and spiritual stories, personality development activities, yogasanas, bhajans, and sankeertanas. The children also had the opportunity to try their hands at drawing, archery, games, and other value-oriented activities, ensuring their overall development. The camp's emphasis on holistic development was evident in the diverse range of activities that were included in the program.
At the valedictory session, Ashrama's secretary Swamy Sukritananda explained that the programme was aimed at not only inculcating moral values in children but also filling qualities like discipline, patriotism, dedication towards the nation, and a sense of responsibility towards the society. He emphasized the importance of shaping children into noble citizens who would contribute positively to the country's growth and development. Swamy Sukritananda's words highlighted the significance of the camp in fostering moral values and patriotism in the young minds.
Sri Venkateswara Vedic University (SVVU) Vice Chancellor Prof. Rani Sadasiva Murty was also present at the valedictory session. In her address to the parents, she hailed the Ashrama's dedication to keeping the children positively engaged during the summer. However, she cautioned parents to sustain the momentum by maintaining the same environment at home. Prof. Rani Sadasiva Murty compared children to raw gold derived from mines, which required polishing through such camps to be crafted into ornaments and become useful to society. She urged parents to be mindful of their children's addiction to mobile phones and social media platforms, which could reduce them to robots devoid of creativity.
The students showcased their skills in yoga, elocution, story telling, and acting during the camp's closing ceremony, much to the delight of their parents. The event was a testament to the camp's success in fostering moral values, discipline, and patriotism in the young minds that participated. As the camp came to a close, the students, parents, and organizers alike looked forward to the positive impact that the camp would have on the children's lives.
The Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama's Samskara Shibiram summer camp serves as a model for other organizations and institutions to follow. By emphasizing the importance of moral values, discipline, and patriotism, the camp has set a high standard for promoting holistic development in children. As the country looks to shape its future citizens, the Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama's summer camp stands as a shining example of the impact that can be achieved through dedication and hard work.
