NELLORE: A fierce storm off the coast of Tatichetlapalem beach in the Kavali constituency of SPSR Nellore district claimed two lives and left two fishermen missing after their boats capsized on Wednesday. The deceased have been identified as Tuppili Balamurali (55) and Kumari Govindu (44), both residents of Alicharla Bangarupalem village in Bogolu mandal. The two missing fishermen are Ganesh (27) and Raja (31), also from the same village.
According to officials from the Bitragunta police station, the incident occurred during fishing operations when sudden and severe weather conditions led to the boats being overturned. The exact circumstances—whether the missing men were lost at sea or have succumbed to the conditions—remain uncertain. Rescue operations were immediately launched by the Indian Coast Guard and local fishermen, who have been combing the waters continuously for over 24 hours.
