The Ministry of Railways has announced the extension of services for Delhi-bound clone special trains, following a surge in travel demand ahead of the festive season. These special services were initially introduced to supplement regular train operations and address the increased passenger load during peak travel periods.
The extension, effective from October 15, 2023, will allow passengers to book tickets for additional trips on these clone trains through the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) platform. The decision comes as the national capital braces for a higher influx of travelers, including students returning for the new academic session, migrant workers heading home, and families traveling for festivals such as Diwali and Chhath Puja.
According to railway officials, the clone trains operate on routes parallel to existing express and mail trains, offering passengers more options and reducing congestion. These trains typically run on high-demand sectors such as Mumbai-Delhi, Chennai-Delhi, and Kolkata-Delhi, with revised schedules to accommodate the extended service period.
