Maharashtra: Friend Murdered Over ₹500 Dispute, Accused Celebrate on Instagram with a Reel

In a shocking incident in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (Aurangabad), Maharashtra, the police have arrested four accused. The incident began with a dispute over just ₹500, which led to the brutal murder of 22-year-old Onkar Suryavanshi by his own friends. After the incident, the accused not only took the event lightly but also celebrated by creating a reel on Instagram to the song 'Tapka Re Tapka'. This reel made it easier for the police to reach the accused, following which they were arrested. According to local police officials, the incident occurred on the night of July 12, 2024. The accused friends called Onkar near his house and assaulted him, resulting in his death. The police stated that the accused made a video of the incident on their phone and uploaded it to social media, which served as evidence for the police. After the reel went viral, local residents informed the police, who immediately took action and arrested the four accused. Onkar Suryavanshi's family has appealed to the police for justice. The police have registered a case against the accused under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), Section 34 (crime committed with a common intention), and other relevant sections. The police are now conducting further investigations and interrogating the accused. This case has once again raised concerns about the misuse of social media and its serious consequences. Experts say that in such cases, the content shared by criminals on social media can become crucial evidence for the police, and it also helps in identifying and arresting the criminals.
