The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has announced that the southwest monsoon is expected to arrive in Kerala by June 4, marking the beginning of the monsoon season in the state. Typically, the monsoon arrives in Kerala around June 1, but this year's onset has been delayed. The IMD had earlier predicted the monsoon onset over Kerala to take place on May 26, but it got delayed, and the department revised its forecast on May 29, stating that the onset could happen in the following week.
