मुख्य बातें
- •Dr. Syed Mohammed Ghouse, a robotic surgeon at AINU Hyderabad, performed India’s first cross-continental robotic surgery from Wuhan, China, to Hyderabad on May 18, 2026.
- •The procedure involved a robotic ureteric reimplant surgery on a Hyderabad patient using the MedBot robotic platform developed by MicroPort, China.
- •The surgery was conducted in real time with a surgical assistant present bedside in Hyderabad, while Dr. Ghouse operated the console remotely from Wuhan.
- •High-speed internet (30-50 Mbps) and redundant leased lines ensured seamless transmission of surgical visuals and robotic commands, with backup systems for patient safety.
In a historic medical milestone, a leading robotic surgeon from Hyderabad successfully performed India’s first cross-continental robotic surgery, operating remotely from Wuhan, China, on a patient located over 4,000 kilometers away in Banjara Hills, Hyderabad. Dr. Syed Mohammed Ghouse, a robotic surgeon at the Asian Institute of Nephrology and Urology (AINU), carried out a robotic ureteric reimplant procedure on May 18 while physically present at Tongji Hospital, Wuhan. The surgery, which involved correcting a lower ureteric stricture in the patient, was conducted in real time using the MedBot robotic platform developed by the Chinese company MicroPort.
