Madurai – In a strong show of solidarity, a large group of Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC) crew members staged a sit-in protest at the Sholavandan depot on Monday afternoon. The protest was in response to a violent incident that took place on Sunday night, where a bus driver was allegedly attacked with a knife by four individuals. The demonstrators demanded immediate arrest and stringent action against all four accused, citing serious concerns over the safety of crew members during duty hours.
According to police reports, the incident occurred around 11:30 pm on Sunday when an empty TNSTC bus was traveling toward the Sholavandan depot. The driver noticed a car parked on the Karupatti-Sholavandan road, obstructing the free movement of vehicles. When the driver asked those inside the car to move it, a heated argument broke out. The situation escalated, and the accused allegedly attacked the driver, Prasad, with a knife on his head. The attack left the driver with severe head injuries.
