Erode, June 1, 2026: Two young men lost their lives and two others were left fighting for survival after a violent head-on collision between two motorcycles on a rural stretch near Sathyamangalam in Tamil Nadu’s Erode district late on Sunday night.
According to police reports, the accident occurred around 11:00 pm on the Amman Kovil Pirivu–Chikkarasampalayam road. The deceased have been identified as Sathyamoorthy (24), a resident of Kenjanur Amman Kovil Pirivu, and Sakthivel (21), from Bharathi Nagar in Sathyamangalam. Both men suffered severe head injuries in the crash and were pronounced dead at the scene.
Sathyamoorthy, who worked as a banana leaf harvester, was reportedly traveling with his friend Vignesh (23). Sakthivel, a day labourer, was on the road with his relative Divakar (17). Police sources said the two motorcycles collided head-on, resulting in the fatal injuries. Vignesh and Divakar sustained serious injuries and were rushed to the Government Hospital in Sathyamangalam. From there, they were referred to Coimbatore Medical College Hospital for advanced trauma care.
