Uganda’s Ministry of Health has confirmed two additional cases of Ebola, bringing the total number of infections in the current outbreak to seven. According to a statement released on Monday, both new cases involve health workers at a private health facility in the capital, Kampala. The ministry confirmed that the infected individuals are Ugandan nationals.
The latest infections follow three confirmed cases reported on Saturday, which had previously increased the total from five to seven. Among the earlier cases were a driver who transported the first confirmed patient, a health worker exposed while treating that patient, and a Congolese woman who tested positive after returning to the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). Health authorities have emphasized that all identified contacts are being closely monitored as part of ongoing efforts to trace and contain transmission chains. Additionally, infection control measures in health facilities have been strengthened to curb further spread.
