In Lataoda Patwar, Pali district, Rajasthan, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) team on Monday arrested a Patwari red-handed while he was accepting ₹8,000 as a bribe. Vikram Dhir, the Patwari, is accused of demanding a total of ₹13,000 in exchange for land demarcation and mutation. He had already taken ₹5,000 earlier, and the ACB caught him while he was accepting the remaining ₹8,000.
The case came to light about eight months ago when a man named Kamlesh Choudhary filed a complaint with Dharmendra Dukia, the First Additional Superintendent of Police, ACB Pali. In the complaint, Choudhary stated that he had purchased a piece of land and was running from pillar to post in the Patwari office for its demarcation and mutation. Patwari Vikram Dhir had demanded ₹13,000 for the work. After taking ₹5,000 initially, he was continuously pressurizing Choudhary to pay the remaining ₹8,000. The ACB investigated the complaint, verified its authenticity, and set a trap. On Monday, when Vikram Dhir arrived to collect the ₹8,000, the ACB team caught him red-handed. During the arrest, the team also seized the bribe amount along with relevant documents. The accused Patwari Vikram Dhir has been taken into custody and is being interrogated.
