New Delhi, June 5 — The national capital, Delhi, recorded its coolest start to June in three years on Wednesday, with temperatures dropping significantly below the seasonal average. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the minimum temperature settled at 23.8 degrees Celsius, marking the lowest recorded for this period since 2021. The maximum temperature also remained below normal, peaking at 35.6 degrees Celsius, providing much-needed relief from the intense summer heat.
The IMD has attributed the unseasonal dip in temperatures to a combination of western disturbances and moisture-laden winds from the Arabian Sea, which have contributed to cloud cover and scattered rainfall across parts of northwest India. While this weather pattern has brought temporary respite, the IMD has issued an alert for isolated thunderstorms and gusty winds in Delhi and its neighboring regions over the next 24 hours. Residents are advised to stay cautious and avoid venturing out during sudden weather changes.
