Mumbai, August 10 — The tragic death of a Mumbai family of four, initially suspected to be due to food poisoning from contaminated watermelon and biryani, has been attributed to poisoning, according to autopsy reports. The Mumbai Police and forensic experts have ruled out food contamination as the cause, following a detailed investigation and post-mortem examinations.
The family, consisting of 38-year-old Pradeep Shetty, his wife, 35-year-old Priya Shetty, their 10-year-old son, and 8-year-old daughter, were found dead in their Andheri West apartment on August 7. Initial reports suggested that they had consumed contaminated food, with watermelon and biryani being cited as possible sources. However, doctors from KEM Hospital, who conducted the autopsies, have dismissed these claims, stating that there were no signs of food poisoning.
