Amid political turbulence and electoral challenges in West Bengal, a piece of good news has emerged for Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress (AITC). According to a fresh report by the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR), the Trinamool Congress has become India’s second-highest-earning regional party. In the financial year 2024-25, the party reported a total income of ₹219.35 crore and received donations amounting to ₹184.08 crore. The report also reveals that the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) topped the list with an income of ₹228.31 crore, while the YSR Congress secured the third spot with ₹140.39 crore.
The top five regional parties included in the ADR report contributed nearly 69 per cent of the total income, while accounting for 77 per cent of total expenditure. The report highlights that voluntary contributions and donations formed the largest source of income for regional parties, totalling ₹702.36 crore, which constitutes 58.88 per cent of their total income. Trinamool Congress led this category with ₹184.08 crore in donations, followed by the YSR Congress (₹140.05 crore) and the TDP (₹85.20 crore).
