New Delhi: A crucial update has been issued for beneficiaries of the central government’s flagship scheme, the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-Kisan). The government has made it clear that farmers who have not yet completed the e-KYC (electronic Know Your Customer) process must do so by June 30, 2024. Failure to comply could result in their next instalment being withheld. This decision has been taken to ensure that the benefits of the scheme reach the rightful recipients and to prevent fraud.
Under the PM-Kisan scheme, eligible farmers receive three instalments of ₹2,000 every four months, amounting to ₹6,000 per year. So far, over 11 crore farmers have benefited from the scheme. The government has stated that completing the e-KYC process will ensure that the benefits reach the correct beneficiaries and any discrepancies are avoided. Additionally, it will help verify the authenticity of details linked to Aadhaar.
