New Delhi, 10 July 2024: Union Home Minister Amit Shah has made a sweeping claim on Tuesday, asserting that people in West Bengal have lent their support to the ongoing protests against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) and the National Register of Citizens (NRC). Shah stated that the central government is facing difficulties in implementing these laws in the state due to widespread public anger. He added that growing resentment against the state government has further complicated the enforcement of critical legislations like the CAA-NRC.
Addressing a public gathering, Amit Shah said that West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s government has actively prevented the implementation of laws such as the CAA-NRC in the state. He alleged that the state administration has instilled fear among residents and incited them against these laws. Shah asserted that the central government remains fully committed to enforcing these laws and will soon implement them in the state.
